1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Seed ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

2. Description of Service

Seed is a subscription-based carbon lifestyle tracking service that:

  • Helps you track and understand your carbon footprint
  • Plants trees on your behalf through verified reforestation partners
  • Provides insights and recommendations to reduce your environmental impact

3. Subscription and Billing

Pricing

  • Monthly subscription: $8/month
  • Annual subscription: $79/year (save ~18%)
  • Founding Member rate (first 1,000 subscribers): $5/month

Billing

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually). You authorize us to charge your payment method automatically at the start of each billing period.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial periods.

4. Tree Planting Commitment

For every active subscription:

  • At least 1 tree is planted per month, guaranteed
  • Additional trees (up to 4 total) may be planted based on your tracked carbon footprint
  • Trees are planted through verified partners such as One Tree Planted
  • Planting locations vary based on seasonal projects and environmental needs

While we make every effort to plant trees promptly, actual planting may occur within 30-90 days of your subscription payment due to seasonal planting windows and project logistics.

5. User Accounts

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Providing accurate information when creating your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Submit false or misleading information
  • Create multiple accounts to abuse promotions or founding member pricing

7. Carbon Calculations

Our carbon footprint calculations are estimates based on:

  • Information you provide through our onboarding quiz and activity logging
  • Publicly available emission factors from EPA, DEFRA, and other sources
  • Statistical averages and assumptions where specific data is unavailable

These calculations are provided for informational and motivational purposes only and should not be considered scientifically precise measurements of your actual carbon emissions.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Seed and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seed shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Service.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
