About Seed
A carbon tracking and tree planting platform built on radical transparency.

Ian Vincenzo Crispi
Founder & Developer
I'm a full stack software engineer who got tired of carbon offset companies that operate like black boxes. You pay, they claim trees get planted, and you never see where the money actually goes. I built Seed because I wanted a platform where every dollar is accounted for, every tree is traceable, and the entire financial model is open for anyone to audit.
Seed isn't backed by venture capital. It's a single-founder project built with the belief that climate action should be honest, affordable, and verifiable.
Open Source Accounting
Every cent is public. No exceptions.
Most subscription services keep their financials hidden. Seed does the opposite. We are committed to open-sourcing our complete accounting — revenue, costs, tree planting expenditures, platform expenses, and profit margins — so you can see exactly where your $5 or $8 per month goes.
What we publish
- ✓Total revenue collected per month
- ✓Amount spent on tree planting (per-tree cost + partner invoices)
- ✓Infrastructure costs (hosting, APIs, services)
- ✓Payment processing fees (Stripe)
- ✓Net profit/loss and where surplus goes
Why we do this
- ✓Greenwashing thrives in opacity
- ✓You deserve to know what your money does
- ✓Accountability builds trust
- ✓We want other companies to do the same
- ✓If we can't justify a cost publicly, we shouldn't be spending it
Where Your Money Goes
Here's the breakdown for a $5/month founding member subscription:
Estimates based on current costs. Exact figures published monthly in our open accounting reports. As subscriber count grows, per-subscriber infrastructure costs decrease and more goes to planting.
